New Event Director for SPATEC

Anni Hood brings vast experience to SPATEC. Her previous roles include General Manager of The Sanctuary Spa and more recently, Group Director of Spas for the Jumeirah Group based in Dubai.  Anni was responsible for overseeing a professional team in the creation of the first global integrative health spa model for the 5 star hotel sector. She led its conceptual design, facility planning, design review, financial projections, operational standards and pre-opening critical paths creating the full brand package for Talise Spas.  In addition, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of 7 Jumeirah spa and fitness facilities, whilst concurrently managing the specialist team developing over 20 new spas spanning Europe, US, India, Asia, Middle East and Latin America.

Anni is a sought-after international speaker with engagements that include the Global Spa Summit in both 2007 and 2008, The Monaco Spa Event in 2007 and The Middle Eastern Spa Summit in 2009; and is also a columnist and writer for several spa and wellness publications in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

‘’We are delighted to welcome Anni to Mclean Events,’’ says Noor Kassam, CEO and Chairman of McLean Events International.

“We have decided to recruit somebody with industry knowledge and experience to take the SPATEC event to even greater heights. The SPATEC meeting forums were launched six years ago in North America and four years ago in Europe. I believe that with Anni at the helm of the SPATEC events in Europe and Asia, we will achieve our objective of making these events the most important events to attend for both Spa Operators and suppliers.”

“SPATEC allows key decision makers to network and talk business in a way that no trade show ever can. Our forums bring together key decision makers for two days of face-to-face meetings in 5 star hotels away from the everyday pressures of the office. I am delighted that Anni has joined the team to take SPATEC Europe into its fifth year and to launch SPATEC ASIA. Her wealth of knowledge will take our global SPATEC events to a whole new level.”.

Noor also thanked Berni Hawkins, who leaves Mclean Events after five years saying, ‘’ I would like to thank Berni for the fantastic contribution she has made in the development of SPATEC, and in making it one of the most important trade events in the European spa industry.’’

Berni has accepted the role of Managing Director of Lifehouse, an exciting new residential spa in Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex which is due to open in November 2010. Lifehouse will have 100 bedrooms and 50 treatment stations, along with a swimming pool, thermal spa and fitness centre. It will serve day guests, staying guests, members and the corporate market.

‘’I would also like to thank the previous Event Director for SPATEC, David Zarb Jenkins, for his immense efforts in taking SPATEC to where it is today. David will now concentrate his efforts on three events within the McLean Events portfolio, SIBEC UK, SIBEC Europe and HOTEC Europe.”
