Networking 'invaluable' to female entrepreneurs

Networking is an invaluable tool for women planning on starting their own business, it has been claimed.

Those considering setting up as a beauty therapist or starting their own spa should take full advantage of the networking opportunities available to them, according to business resource everywoman.

Recent research by Barclays indicated that the number of women setting up their own businesses in 2008 grew by more than the national average.

The number of female-only start-ups that took shape last year increased by nine per cent to more than 90,000.

By comparison, there was only a one per cent increase in male-only start-ups.

Overall, the number of new businesses set up in 2008 increased to 432,300 compared to 436,600 in the previous year.

Women respond particularly well to networking, making it a good tool for setting up a business for female start-ups, claims director of everywoman Karen Gill.

She explains: "Never before has there been so much resource available for women wanting to start up their own business."
