London sports coaching scheme aims to improve participation
A number of people working in personal training jobs or as sports coaches are set to take part in a new scheme designed to improve the health of London residents.
In a bid to make Londoners more active, the Play Sport London project aims to boost fitness as well as sporting participation.
Funded by the London Development Agency with the support of Sport England, it will feature 140 grass roots sports clubs, potentially involving a variety of fitness instructors.
Geoff Newton, director of Olympic opportunity at the LDA, commented that the scheme should allow people to try a sport they have not played before.
