Job seekers 'should look to fill' CV gaps
Job seekers should look to avoid gaps developing on their CVs, according to one expert, in order to boost their employment prospects.
Those looking for personal training jobs may be interested to hear the view of Careers Advice Service representative Dave Berry, who believes people should be proactive even when they are out of work.
The careers coach commented that those actively seeking jobs should still consider things like volunteering or training to improve their CVs.
He said: "We would advise people to do anything they can to positively fill that gap, be it voluntary work, a course, some form of training or networking.
"People need to justify what they've been doing with their time, which may sound awful, but the worst thing you can do is give an employer the impression you haven't been doing much."
The government recently launched its National Talent Bank scheme to help people gain access to more volunteering opportunities during the recession.
