Fitness First wins industry award

Fitness First has been named Health Club Operator of the Year by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA).

Those in fitness manager jobs at the firm are no doubt celebrating after being presented with the award at the annual Flame Awards.

Fitness First UK managing director John Gamble said that the award recognises the firm's basic values and wider vision "of making the world a fitter place".

He said: "Being a large operator presents its own unique challenges and our ability to deliver a quality member experience across a broad estate with a highly diverse local market portfolio makes this award even more of an achievement.

"I look forward to continuing to work alongside the FIA to deliver our vision through inclusive initiatives."

FIA chief executive Andree Deane noted that Fitness First had been an "extremely worthy winner" of the award.

The firm has over 425,000 members spread across 162 health clubs in the UK.

Fitness First's new award comes less than a month after the firm introduced the new Indo Board Balance Trainer product to the UK.

The Indo Board Balance Trainer is one of the latest fitness crazes in the US, used by Cameron Diaz, Ashley Tisdale and Zac Efron.
