Exercise can 'reduce cancer risk and improve recovery'

There is a "strong link" between regular exercise and reducing the chances of contracting cancer, it has been claimed.

Taking advantage of gym expertise, employing a fitness instructor or personal trainer may also help to achieve better recovery, according to Fitness First.

TV doctor and Fitness First medical advisor Dr Hilary Jones explained that exercise is a good way for people to take control of their health.

He said: "Only 30 minutes of exercise a day can make all the difference.

"People with sedentary jobs are particularly at risk and need to find time in their busy schedules to fit in exercise."

Dr Hilary also added that exercise can enhance mood and self-perception.

Recent research by the universities of Queensland, Australia and Exeter, UK indicates that the quality of a person's social life can also improve well-being and health.

University of Exeter professor Alex Haslem said: "This is an indispensable part of who we are and what we need to be in order to lead rich and fulfilling lives."
