Birmingham swimming pool set for 2010 re-launch
A swimming pool in the Birmingham region is set to re-open its doors to the public in 2010, following the completion of improvement works.
It is hoped Newtown Baths will become available to customers early in the year, after plans to remove asbestos are seen through.
Birmingham City Council's leisure, sport and culture cabinet member Martin Mullaney commented that it is good to see the pool being planned for a re-opening.
He said: "We have an ambitious long-term goal for new community pools across the city but we know the importance of keeping existing facilities open in the meantime."
In another development that may appeal to those working in leisure jobs in the Birmingham area, it is thought the city's council will this week give its backing to the proposed Eastside City Park urban development which is expected to offer local residents and visitors a number of benefits.
