So what exactly are these amazing opportunities ?
Find out about a Day in the Life of an Esporta Membership Sales Manager...
Name: Joanne
Position: Membership Sales Manager
I joined Esporta around 18 months ago as a Membership Sales Manager, responsible for a team of four Membership Consultants. I joined a new club that was just opening; this was hugely satisfying and involved lots of organising, business development and leading my team. We enjoyed a very busy and successful and rewarding two months pre sales before the club actually opened to its members.
After our pre sales period the team and I began to settle into a clear pattern revolving around planning to achieve our daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
Whilst the end goal is always to hit targets the ways in which to achieve this are very varied, creative, exciting and fun!
My day will typically start with a review of the previous day's performance, which is done through a daily activity report.
Using this I can see how productive we have been as a team and as individuals. I can then prioritize and focus our day ahead on key areas e.g. lead generation / phone activity / external promotions / corporate relationship building / internal referral programmes.... all leading to new business development.
I have a close working relationship with my General Manager, Regional Sales Manager and the central Marketing Team and will discuss each morning our previous day's performance and what we need to achieve that day and week. After this I will then hold one to one meetings with the team to set their daily targets and give them a clear focus, and of course to motivate them to succeed!!!
It's then time for me to dedicate some time to front line selling. I typically allow myself 3-4 key phone sessions throughout the day in order to generate some quality leads and book appointments. I try to book my appointments close together so I can dedicate an afternoon/evening to purely touring. I like to lead and motivate from the front, but sometimes I need to reign in my natural passion for selling and concentrate on developing my team to sell instead!
As the day progresses it's important to keep the team focused and monitor their performance. This is done through daily updates on productivity displaying this visually in the office.
At set points throughout the month, I will dedicate time to formulating the following months Sales and Marketing Plan. This involves planning where to go to conduct business development activity and how we can generate sales referrals from members. This really challenges my creativity, but is an area that I find hugely rewarding. The ability to influence our results directly is a fantastic situation to be in.
Sales at Esporta is a very driven environment, but tremendously rewarding, days can sometimes be long but it's a great environment to work in - with plenty of members there is always someone to chat to and maybe persuade their friend to join too! The job is extremely rewarding, my challenge is always about hitting a target and motivating a team to hit that target. It's so satisfying to look back over a month and see how we worked as a team to achieve our goals.
Oh and I nearly forgot, I am rewarded both on my individual performance and on the performance of my team...very well actually.. I quickly realised I can achieve far more through developing these guys to achieve than I can through trying to do everything myself, that's really hard sometimes. It would be fair to say I began to really understand this concept when I was lucky enough to go on one of Esporta's Leadership Development programmes, my outlook changed and I have been far, far more successful as a result!!
